Beyond the Myths: Understanding the Highly Sensitive Person

How many times have others labeled you as "too sensitive", shy, neurotic or anxious?  How many times have you placed those same labels on yourself for having a strong emotional reaction to something "small" or struggling to adjust to a new environment?  Without knowing that our High Sensitivity is a real trait, it is easy to internalize those voices that tell us being sensitive is a weakness.  In an attempt to repress our sensitive side and fit in with the majority, we disconnect from ourselves and our gifts as Highly Sensitive People.  

The more I learn about myself as a Highly Sensitive Person and join in community with other HSPs, the more I begin to reclaim those lost parts of myself and heal from past misperceptions.  I hope you can experience the same self-acceptance and healing as you begin to deepen your knowledge of what it means to be a Highly Sensitive Person.
